How long have you been riding for and what got you into riding?
I've always loved watching stunt shows as a kid but never really thought about riding until last year when I went for my first motorcycle ride. I loved the feeling and I wanted to learn more about it. I saved up through the winter and finally bought my own bike in April and have been riding almost everyday since then, even if it was just to the parking lot a couple of blocks away from my house to practice my skills.
What kind of impact had riding had for you? Has riding helped you to overcome a hardship in your life, if yes how?
Riding requires focus and 100% of your attention. So when I ride, I don't focus on anything else but where I want to go. It has been a destressor for me and a source of happiness because I felt so happy anytime I saw my improvements. There have been days where I didn't ride as well as I wanted to or was capable of but I learned to reflect on those and be better!
Do you prefer to ride solo or groups and why?
There are definitely good and bad sides to both. I love riding solo because I can go at my own pace and ride my own style and not have to worry about anything else but I also love group rides with my closest friends! Being in small groups of 3-5 is super fun and also much safer, in my opinion, than riding solo because if something were to happen, you would have your friends around to help. I also think having a good group of people to ride with is crucial. If the group itself is not very understanding of your riding skills/limits then that can cause some trouble.
What kind of bike do you have and why? What kind of riding do you do or have you done? (Dirt, off road/enduro, road trips etc.)
Currently I have a 2009 Ninja 250 SE! Beautiful and amazing bike to learn on. I thought that getting something smaller would be best to practice foundation skills to carry into riding bigger bikes so I found this bike on Craigslist and just went for it! I haven't done any other type of riding yet. I would absolutely love to go off roading or learning more about dirt bikes though!
What's been your favorite or most memorable riding experience?
This may be a bit counterintuitive but my favourite experiences have been my falls. I've made many mistakes so far but I've gotten back up and continued to ride after learning from my mistakes. I think those are most valuable to me because they make me a better rider! So even though it hurt to fall, I smiled through it and went at it until I fixed my mistakes!
Future riding goals/ plans?
Well, I'm hoping to upgrade to a bigger bike and keep the 250 for track! I also wanna get more invested in stunting! I just have to see what the future has in store for me 😁
